96 Escort LX Wagon, 1.9 Liter that will not charge? New Belt, New alternator that has been tested at 3 different parts stores and tested good at all 3 14-14.5 volts, the battery tests fine as well? Put the alternator back on the car start it up and it only reads 12 volts coming off the alternator? I have tracked the wiring from the alternator to the starter, starter to the battery, and to the fuse block no fusable links and the wires are good and all fuses are good as well?:banghead: :banghead:

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks!!

Did you try changing the battery cables and the starter solenoid. Also clean the terminals on the alternator to make sure they are making good contact.

I wonder if the parts stores are testing the alternator with a bit of load? AutoZone will do some testing underhood ... you might try them.

Did you use a meter or a test light to check the fuses, wiring, and connectors?
