Changing out the Auto 4wd to 2wd

I have a 99 explorer sport and when I want to go have a little fun in the snow or mud my auto 4wd kicks in :banghead: , I was wonderin if anyone has done this before or knows anything about it, but I wanted to make mine into 2wd and once i needed the 4wd I would switch it myself. I know there is probably a sensor that just controls the auto 4wd and if I unplug that it would throw codes like no other. Does anyone no of a somewhat easy way of doin it, if at all possible without throwin codes?

Thanks

Try these guys. there was a post regarding this exact topic not that long ago. There is a way where you can add a switch and do exactly that.

Did you ever find the answer to this question? I was looking to do the same thing with my Explorer.

Here's the link! Does AUTO keep it out of 4WD on the freeway unless the wheel speeds are differend, eg, slipping on snow packed roads?
