there is a box like part just to the right of the master cylinder in my 4x4 V-6 xcab Toyota 1989 pickup [the part is on the driver's side; its nearer to the back firewall, not the air firtler box]

the box has a wire that runs from the box thru the firewall [the wire seems to run right in back of the dash board where the speedomoter is]. anyone know what this part is?

anyone ever have it replaced? if so, what did it cost?

i get a funny noise when i first start the 4x4, put it in drive, and start to move. the noise seems to be coming right from around that box like item.

after i drive the 4x4 for 15-20 minutes and its all warmed up, the noise seems to fade away [or at least it is much much much harder to hear].

could that boxlike item be the speedomoter box and cable???

help!!!!

just to add a little more description of the part, it has a thicker wire that runs thru the firewall [just behind the speedometer] and it also has a small skinny hose in the back of the box that when i pulled it off sounded like air came out of it.

the front of the box comes to a cone shape -and the fat wire that runs thru the firewall is at the very front of the box.

this box is just to the right of the master cylinder on the drivers side

anyone know what this part is??

none that i can see

the box is about the size of a butter box that holds 4 sticks of butter, and then there is the cone part in front of the box
