Could 2.4 Engine Suffer from Lifter Tick?

Sup Guys,

When I start my car in the morning I hear a slight ticking noise that sounds like its coming from my valves but after a while it stops. Upon doing my research the majority of results I've received is that the noise is associated with lifter tick however none of them had a 2.4 engine. Thus my question could a 2.4 (99 GS Spyder) engine suffer from lifter tick? If so how can I fix this? Is it expensive? The ticking noise is really getting on my nerves. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

It's probably lifter tick. My 2.4 had it and I switched to 3rdgen lifters. I noticed that on my 2.4 when Id' change the oil it would be better for a while. So you might try that. I'm not sure if it just quited the rest of the engine down or what. But I know the actual ticking stopped for about 1000 miles.

With third gen lifters I didn't have that problem at all. It's not terribly expensive if you do the work yourself. I think it was maybe 150 for all the lifters I can't remember it was a while ago.

Any car can get lifter tick.

EDIT: Damnit Thor I was typing.

Any car can technically suffer from lifter tick. If it's coming from the head and is constant, it more than likely is. My 420a has slight lifter tick. It's been getting worse little by little.

any car can get it, and that's the truf (v1.0).

I had it in my Stealth (6G72, 3.0L V6), but I cleaned them, and used thin oil and revved it high for awhile... Then I changed oil back to the norm, and the tick was gone... Most of what I heard was actually injector pulse though, make sure you aren't getting the two confused.

^Most of the time though, you can clean the lifters and change oil (maybe go a little heavier) and it will subside...

HAHA. Nope. I will never get rod knock. Just because.

You guys can't come up with something like that for the 420a. No crankwalk, seals, nothing... I win all.

Running a 420a is an uphill battle, you'll never win. But it'll be good to see SOMEONE try....I gave up awhile ago, but may go back eventually.
