Hello Everyone
I got back into this hobby about two years ago. The hobby has really picked up speed since my eldest daughter has gone to University. This opened up a room that I have been able to dedicate as a hobby room. I can’t count how many kits I built as a kid and it was fun back then. But! Today with all the after market items and the quality of the kits it has really tripled in fun. This is my first W.I.P post. You may recognize it right away. This is the Tamiya Porsche 959 #24065. I purchased this kit in 1989 and I only pulled it off the self last October so this is my opening photo. More photos to come. I welcome your comments (the good, the bad and the ugly) and any questions you may have

Here is a shot of just the engine. I'm working on fine tuning my photo issues. So bare with me. I have a site to save them
and I will have a progress document when done. BTW The body has been primed and detail areas have been air brushed.
I have a lot more to do with the body before I put the final paint coats to it.

Now on to the suspension components. Here I kept only the kit mounting brackets. I replaced the
dampers with brass tubing painted clear blue. Springs were handmade from brass wire and painted
yellow.

Here is how it looks. OOOPS! When you photograph your work you sure find your mistakes in a
hurray. I had to carefully break apart the left set and rebuild it. You can see in this photo how
cock-eyed it is.

Here are the front and rear rotors. They are nice and large and relatively easy to add detail. I hand
drilled the vents on the rotor edges. The rotor faces are photo etch parts the brake lines are all
hand made from brass wire. I also used photo etch washers where the brake lines attache to the
brake calipers.

May 4, 2007 Moving forward! I now have the interior almost completed.

Most all the painting has been done. Flocking has been added to the floor for carpet. I have added
carbon fiber to the centre console. The seats front and back are done in three shades of grey with
pure white. I added the Final Treatment wax to the seats to give them a more leather like finish.

On the side panels I have added carbon fiber and on the bottom kick panel I have added more
flocking to simulate carpeting and painted the door openers / handles gold.

Here is the the finished interior tub. I have added and improved the rear speakers and added 2
more speaker grills each to the doors. The idea is to emulate an eight speaker Bose stero system.
Boom Box and all amps are located in the front trunk space ( Yea Right!) At this time I have also
added the transmission shifter and emergency brake arm.

For the dash I have added carbon fiber, paint detail and then I cut each of the gage dials separately
from the kit decal sheet and added them over top of the carbon fiber face plate. I was planning on adding
gold painted rings around each of the gage dials but there is no room for this. To bad because with the gold rings
and then some Kristel Clear on top, it would look real sweet.
Well that's it for now. Seat belts stearing wheel and final interior assembly are next :popcorn:

wow that engine looks great. i didnt know this kit came with an engine. hmm, may have to pick this one up. more pics of the engine would be great. good luck and keep us updated

I have one of these, it was a really fun kit to make, and it actually convinced me to buy the 1/16 Fujimi Enthusiast kit
