The belt was changed an now I have a code 336 (EGR PFE/DPFE volts out of range) with the KOER and also a code 335 (EGR PFE/DPFE volts out of range) with KOEO. The car temp is hot and when you drive it hesitates and stumbles. I think the timing is off but I need suggestions. If it is off what is the best way to get the timing correctly set on this engine. I used the camshaft alignment tool but my intake camshaft pulley bolt was stuck so I only loosen the exhaust pulley and route the belt. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

make sure piston 1 and 4 are TDC (top dead center) and take the valve cover and lock the cams with a peice of steel at the end put in the notches on the cams

On the '98 2.0 Contour, there is a cap screw on the engine block-drivers side toward radiator-that is temporarily replaced with a longer one .This screw is put in by hand when timing mark on crank pulley is in the correct position. This keeps crankshaft in position while installing the camshaft tool and the timing belt.I would also at this time replace the idler and tensioner. When the before mentioned screw is correctly installed, you cannot turn the engine over,so be sure it is removed and replaced with the original screw.
