I have no heard of anyone bending valves in a 3.0 from timing belt failure. So I don't think it is an interference engine. But I don't know for sure. Anyone else have a comment?

The 3.0 is an overhead cam engine. The timing belt is quite long and drives both cam shafts and the internally mounted water pump. The belt can be replaced with the engine in the van. Flat rate time for this repair is 4 hours. Should you decide to replace the belt, change the water pump, too, for good measure.

Let us know what you find.

According to my Gates brochure, the 3.0 is a non interference engine. So you should be able to replace the timing belt no problem.
