Does anyone know what type of wire it is currently and where I could get some replacement wire?

It is radio/antenna coax wire like CB radio or household TV antenna wire but with radio plug in on the end.
Your GM dealer may have a replacement wire or parts place may have it.
At your parts places you may have to get a replacement antenna with the wire.
