As mentioned in another post about a different subject, just bought my wofe a 2005 Stratus.

It came with only one key and remote. If I understand, we can program a new remote on our own, but, not a key. I'd like to know if that's correct, and, what the dealer typically charges to program a key -- assuming we supply the blank.

Thanks!

Call the dealer parts counter and ask.

Gee -- hadn't thought of that one...

Was hoping for something a little more useful.

I work at a mopar parts counter, and yes, the dealer has to get a key code, VIA your VIN# and program your key to the car.

Could you give me a ballpark of $ and time (i.e. can they do it while I wait)?

Thanks!

I have found that dealer rates can vary by as much as $70- an hour around the country. That is why I suggested calling them. The information you need is straight forward and the dealer should be able to tell you quickly how much without any guesses.
