Does anyone know how easy it is to replace the waterpump on a 93 grand cherokee v8? And if there are any problems that can present themselves during this work. Any pics would be great. Thanks.

I can't speak specifically about the '93 JGC v8, but on my '94 Jeep (6 cyl) I know the water pump is right on top and don't have to remove a whole lot of stuff to get to it. Most of the labor on water pump replacements depends on what has to be removed in order to get to it. The Haynes manual has a good description and photos on what's involved. In summary, here are the steps as described in the Haynes Repair Manual (c) 2000. (I provide this so you have an idea of what's involved. I still recommend getting the book so you have pictures and additional details that I've left out):
REMOVAL OF OLD PUMP
1. Disconnect negative battery cable
2. Drain cooling system
3. Remove cooling fan and shroud
4. Remove the drivebelts and water pump pulley
5. Loosen clamps and detach hoses from water pump
6. (6 cyl. models only): Remove idler pulley and power steering pump)
7. Remove bolts and detach the water pump (check condition of bypass hose; replace if necessary).

INSTALLATION OF NEW PUMP:
8. Clean bolt threads
9. Compare old pump with new one to be sure they're idenical
10. Remove traces of old gasket material from the engine
11. Clean engine and new water pump mating surfaces
12. Apply thin coat of RTV sealant to the engine side of the gasket
13. Apply a thin layer of RTV sealant to the gasket matign surface of the new pump
14. Carefully attach the pump and gasket to the engine and thread bolts finger tight
15. Insall remaining bolts
16. Reinstall all parts removed for access to the pump, including serpentine drivebelt
17. Refill cooling system and check drivebelt tension.

NOTE: If you have over 80,000 miles on the Jeep and you haven't replaced the serpentine belt, it's a good idea to replace it while replacing the pump, because you have everything apart already.

Just to add onto what JEEPFOREVER said.

On the 5.2L and 5.9L engines, it's a lil easier (but not necessary) to remove the accessory drive bracket, this is the brackt the Alternator and AC Compressor is bolted to, there are about 5 or 6 bolts holding it on, plus you have to remove the idler pulley and the power steering pump, but once you get the bracket off you will open that area up a whole lot more and make the Water Pump replacement a lil easier.
NOTE: YOU DO NOT HAVE TO REMOVE THE A/C COMPRESSOR AND ALTERNATOR FROM THE BRACKET, JUST REMOVE THE ENTIRE BRACKET WITH ACCESSORIES ATTACHED.

I have a '94 and had to replace the gasket for my timing cover. The hardest thing for me removing and reinstalling the water pump was I did not have the proper spanner wrench for removing the fan from the water pump, I removed and reinstalled the water pump with the fan on. It was hard cause you also have to remove fan shroud at the same time and put it back on the same way.
