Thinking of purchasing an Audi...heyraver 02-18-2007, 05:56 PM What's up people? I'm thinking of purchasing 1998 Audi A4 2.8 Quattro with 101K miles, for $5,800. I might trade in my 95 Jeep GC.. Not sure yet... So i'm curious now.. Overall, how are the Audi's? Are they a big money pit? What are the common problems you guys run into? Thank you for your help! ExTrEmEDrIfT 02-20-2007, 08:50 AM if you know how to work on cars then it will save you money parts can get expensive , one main common problem on the b5 platform i have encountered is the front motor mount bushing going bad , as long as you keep up the preventive maintenance things should go well .. i have 135k on my '96 and have not had much problems .. good luck !! Kunundrum 05-03-2007, 01:25 AM I personly would not buy a 2.8 with that high of a Milage, and would go for a 1.8T it's a pretty bulletproof motor as long as the turbo are kept in good condition. the 1.8t with a as easy as a chip will have more Power and torque than the V6. I have seen the VW 1.8t engine with over 600 000km but never seen a v6 with over 200 000km on the original engine. (not to say it's not possible) I personaly advise the 1.8t engine as a better choice in this particular vehicle. busa4 05-07-2007, 06:30 PM make sure you get a detailed service history. also make sure the t-belt has been recently replaced. you dont want to have that belt replaced on your dime. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
