Oki, dealine is coming. For the respect and friendship I have for Andy I'll try to finish until march the 7. Anyway a little slip, seeing the steps of S7 jobs around, would be appreciated. As per the '80 contest (waste almost all the time doing a huge PE set, and burned deadline) I'd lost all the time purchasing kit, dreaming about... and I started it last month. I dreamed about something like the Morgan Aero 8, but I decided to domething less extreme, and at least with classic fenders ;) yep I'm fashinated by those and a little bit annoyed by cicle fenders, also with wide weels I just hate wide cicle fenders in this bug (try to put it in the side of a standard model, it seem 1/43 LOL)

Oki, let me show how I done:

It would be pearl yellow (Zero lambo Giallo Orion 2 step color) with bare carbon fenders, in full Colin Chapman lightweight concept. No windscreen, just a little wind-slide in front of the driver. 1 (racing) seat. Rollbar. L4 16V twin camshaft porsche (from 968CS) with original S7 gearbox (well supposed revisited, but at least you'll see nothing when mounted). I liked a transaxle solution to have some weignt back but I found nothing to fill in those little space so also differential is the classic S7 one, at least covered by a kevlar panel.

It will have a white stripe with black edge in the nose, the nose opening is the classic S7 one.

Rear fenders widened 5mm, front fenders also with a triangle wide 3mm to 1 mm, so I cutted it and done the job.

Exaust opening switched from left to opposite side, due to the Porsche engine. Done with styrene and Light Curing Putty the little lip in front of the driver.

Thanks guys. @ Martin: is the hasegawa kit: I purchased a couple lately for cheap, very good kit, you'll find almost 2 engines inside since the base kit is the L4 turbo from 944. This kit have also self-adv carpet material: seem ok.

And more this kit have one of the best box art I seen around, signed from Y.Yoshida: possible is the famous sexi-robot painter of '90??

Another little update: little but.... pain LOL, I'm not skilled in soldering jobs: or better I have some decent skills with the flame seamer but here I seamed pipes directly on the seven shell: so I needed an iron seamer, for less temperature... not easy to me: it was needed to rebuilt several times, but at least, after few touches, could be oki: I have to prime and paint black.

Geo, How big is your new muffler?
I'm going to make one as well and I'm trying to save any time I can.

Ferrari TR: approx 22 mm long diam 0.75 mm, I guess mine is a bit undersized but I had to cut, simply I unliked bigger.

Updatez: finally after dozen pass of primer-putty-primer-sand etc. I had a decent grey surface, sanded with 2000 grit, followed by white primer (sanded+polished under runny water), than I sprayed stright from the can the Bright Orange (a couple of mist coats) followed by 3 coats of yellow (TS16? ever straight from the can). Now I have to wait for curing an so polish it. Next steps carbon on fenders and clearcoat (not sure may be only matt clear on fenders, I like the thiny appeal of yellow w/out clear). Nosecone would be carbonized, except the front white line. Primers wasn't sanded and polished in the interior's panel so I'll see a different texture, polished out, rough inside ;). Last edit: I just LOVE multilayer painting with different colors, I start to se this tip with my 360CS, now I have a reach yellow that on reflection allow to see something of the orange ;)

I done also two little radiators folding stainless steel PE parts (not easy, better german silver, but inox have a unique and fantastic unoxided texture) and seaming they: also seamed a couple of pipes to fix cooling hoses:

Well no picts but since the body had a couple of (very little, almost not noticeable) faults, i sanded down and in a hurry I sprayed last yellow coat: too much confidence... it's runned down a bit with several thiny bubbles....DOT4 (what a shame..)

It reborn.. in red :D it's Zero's Rosso Scuderia, cleared with Zero Clear laquer.. oki let me show some sub-assy first, pieces are almost done, they need some back washing and some fine-brush detailing jobs:

The seat: I used powders (black smoke by MIG) but not in the way showed by Guido in his awesome Pug: I seen that you'll jut brush, shade and blend powders over a matt rugh base, bimply they fill crevices, well easiest to try than try to explain LOL, BTW black powders pigments over Lechler matt black and mid-gray (industrial acrylics):

The kevlar shell: sprayed with matt black, than oversprayed with Alclad jet Exaust trough a steel mesh (Mr. Model mesh 80), than I clearcoated, sanded with meshes from 3200 to 12000 and polished, just 1 pass with Tamy fine polish, followed by wax, than I masked with Maskol to spray the fabric.

Than I masked and sprayed the matt black inside and under, nosecone was sprayed Tamy TS26 (I guess... anyway white) than sanded polished and carbonized with the SM HR carbon pattern, the texture is fantastic, so i leave decals so just with a hand of wax:

Once a time body shell isn't yet polished, it's smooth and free from OP but not so shiny, would be better after compounds and wax, I only polished a bit the engine hood and those dragon (in fact I lost some gold areas... )

Uhhh, I got a problem: yesterday night I done the mold to cast wheel's spokes but I guess cat was to old, as now I can't see any sign of catalization and the silicon is still fluid.....I guess I need to find another solution for rims and than, if things go bad with the mold, clean those tuned rim...

Guys I'm very sorry but I'm not able to join the deadline: I'm leaving city today for the seaside and, since I felt a lot of fun (really, I'm surprized a little thing like this given me so much modelling joy) I decided to not rush and finish my china girl quiet, after a little holiday ;), also I had the mold's problem (bad cat) and I wanted to use those rims that I modified, dunno like compromises, or less possible :D, so I'll redo the mold with new gears when I come back.

Once a time I felt my nature (fickle, inconclusive, too much courious LOL) play havoc with my stuff: but I must fight enough with my character in the professional and family sphere to worry about the modelling environment.... just I let it be, it's one of my few relaxing channels ;)

Good luck for the others S7 friends, I'll see the gallery and what you would be able to do to celebrate this fantastic Chapman's idea in ten days or so ;)

oki this is the 4th live of my seven, hoping it haven't nine as cats: yep redone body shell :D. It was yellow, wrong lambo giallo orion (switch out a kinda gelato's cream), than red with dragon and... now is (almost) correct Zero Giallo Orion. Thanks to Hiroboy and his patient :D.

Giallo cleared with Lecher Macrofan, I adjusted the thinner level (spraying trought a Iwata HP-TR2, 0.5 mm) until the clear ratio: so 1 clear, 1/2 hard., 1 thinner. The best setting was 1C-1/2H-1/2T, with noproblem of craters due to thinner evaporation, and the smoothest texture. The adviced formula from the manufacturer is 1C-0.5H-0.05T.... The result of my tests is a smooth texture with not orange peel.

The Zero Giallo Orion is a 2+clear step system, I done 4-5 layers of yellow base and a light coat (1/2 layer?) with teh Iwata HP-CS with the second color: to avoid this: (my previous disaster, engine hood only with part 1)

Iknow, a bit more particles would be better, but from real Gallardos or Murces you'll see the pearl effect of the Giallo Orion only from some viepoints.

That Posche I4 is a perfect match, and the fat CF muffler looks great. Do the shells of CF mufflers get hot? If so, it's going to need an etched heat shield. :wink: It's waaaay too easy to rub your leg on the hot exhaust getting in and out of a 7. :uhoh:

Also I'm playing with the idea of a mini diorama with a couple of mechanics (not pro, just those sunday's mechs, so very dirty suits, random sponsors and mostly the awesome 1/24 Yamaha TMax, it was my second "bike" and sit from too much time on the stash dust, despite mine was silver I'll see her in the same 7's pearl yellow/black scheme)

Upps, I intended it as a (almost) racer, not a Suzuki Santana to drive on dirty LOL , I guess I etched only one to protect paint from the side exaust warm and oils, and to underline the asymmetry of the 1 seater stuff ;) but I guess also you're right :D

Yep I wrote "I need to do also inner rim's part at least for front wheels, also the inner disc and caliper's part are still a bit rough now: should be covered by fender I guess (kinda cycle fenders now :wink: )"

I need to take a decision on front fenders and see the result, but I guess I have in front the whole detailing of the inside front sides, to be apcetable.

This is born as (alsmost) OOB with few mods to fill lost times on other builds, but is coming hard LOL

I done something on the fuel rail, this time is solid, not PEtched, I done something that would look like injectors and a thin fuel line, hex fittings are 0.7 mm diam and handmade.

I like the Sabelt buckles- the length adjusters under the shoulder pads look spot on. Good idea on the air filter mesh, too- I may have to try that. Polish PE hex mesh, huh? :rolleyes:

I'm for classic fenders buddy, anyway they cover inside detals less than a cicle fender I guess, due to the kinda shape. I'm waiting to wash and drybrush a bit all mechs last updates: I have to manage 100 time a day this poor engine, it's a miracle that the silver (luckily I used Lecher grigio alloy that's very hard to release particles, and cure in seconds) is ever there.

The whole idea is an abused trackday cab, with well weathered mechs but a "just washed&waxed and done a couple of track's turns" body shell, so just a light weathering (ever if my finger allow that, I'm ever tempted to add a layer of dirty more LOL)
