I'm working on Tamiya Mitsubishi GTO (also known as 3000GT) the early version with pop-up lights.
When I experimentaly try to asemble the undercarriage + exhaust pipes + suspension I found a little space between front work and engine. So you can see the bonnet from bottom. And that's non-permissible  You can see it in 6th picture. So I decided to open the hood and fill the space with engine and other things. And then I get mad (from my nickname :D) idea to open trunk and doors to make full open version

I built one of these last year, pretty nice kit, mine was box stock though. What are you going to use for the engine? Can't wait to see more.

I want to do a scratchbuilded 4G63, I have a lot of reference pics. I'll try to do it from plastic sheet, rods and putty :)

OK, but you know 3000GT's don't come with a 4G63, they have a 6G72. 4G63 is a 4 cylinder single turbo and the 6G72 is a V6 twin turbo.

That's awesome!! I like it a lot!!
But,anyway, there is a revell stealth,so it would make the work way easier for ya!
Oh,and if you are cutting the doors-trunk-hood...Reinforce some parts with some sprues,or your model will break in half (like in my civic and in my RX7...) I mean,I will make a little image on paint,so you can get it,ok? I think if I do a typed explanation, you won't get it because my english is darn crappy. :p
Ah! and another thing! You can use the thread saw instead of a hobby knife! It does a sharper cut,and it's wayyyyy easier! Soon I'll give a brief on this one too!

Duuuude,I made a quick tuto of how make some body reinforcements,so your body won't break in half....
So,for starting...
Before you cut you doors-bonnet (I hope you didin't do before seeing this!),Get some sprues (you know what are they, right? The plastic trees that attach some parts...),and reinforce the body on something like this (attach the sprues with some strong glue,or all the work will be thrown away!):
http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d49/2442830190593/SprueReinforcements.jpg
So,cut your doors-bonnet relaxed. After that you can get an Scissor and CAREFULLY remove the sprue reinforcements. Don't worry if some sprue stay hangin near it. Then, after everything needed was cutted, reinforce the body on something like this:
http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d49/2442830190593/Clipreinforcement.jpg
It doesn't has to be an clip reinforcement, you can actually use some other kind of reinforcement with putty (that makes the body nice and steady like it was made to be cutted like that!!).
Oh,and to make the clip (or the other material used) strongly attached to the body, you can make an nice (Nasty :p) mix of baby powder-super bonder. It will nicely attached after that.
I hope this helps!!
I will mention about the Thread Saw on next post!
Kindest regards,

Well, the trunk and hood are cuted, but I have to do a lot of work to cut door panels. But I won't stop working on this car :)
But there are some next projects I am working on....

cool a 3000, i hardly see these any more in real life and in scale form. I thought about dropping a engine in one before, maybe a RB, 2JZ, or maybe a LS1. But this model is getting to rare to toy around with. Keep up the good work, Best of Luck!!!!
