Serpentine belt and pulley's one grove offdfr4444 02-15-2007, 01:19 PM 99 Isuzu rodeo v6.Thanks for help in advance...I replaced the tensioner pulley, new belt. All grooves align... though when I crank it, the serpentine kicks one groove outward on the harmonic balancer and 3/8" outward on the tensioner pulley. Did I miss a spacer? I'm perplexed!!! Steve srpope80 02-15-2007, 01:31 PM I had this happen one time - are you absolutely sure you have them in all the right grooves - including the bottom of all pulleys, etc? Scrapper 02-15-2007, 02:02 PM if you get them on all groves then you start it is that when the belt goes 1 grove off?? if so sounds like tensinoer on wrong or it's not in line.. dfr4444 02-15-2007, 02:56 PM yes, all in groove. All pulley's and bearings have no play. dfr4444 02-15-2007, 03:03 PM It's off line somewhere...all is tight and new tensioner pulley. Did I drop a spacer? Only after starting the belt pops forward 1 groove. I appreciate ya'll taking the time to respond. dfr4444 02-15-2007, 04:04 PM Thought ya'll maybe could help, thanx Andie_J 02-15-2007, 05:14 PM wow, Im new here and this is my first post. Dad had a friend with a jeep with about the same problem, and it turned out the h balancer had slipped a little on that rubber band that was in it. He acually ate up a few belts before they found the problem. Andie:) Scrapper 02-15-2007, 06:36 PM huh thats a new 1 on me..maybe had belt boxed wrong?? if you figure it out let me know wil ya? Gizmo42 02-15-2007, 07:12 PM Look from the side and see if you can find any of the pulleys aligned a little off from the rest. My first thought is harmonic balancer going bad, it happens sometimes. On my BOI's chevy truck it kept doing that and it turned out the previous owner (or whoever did the work) put the power steering pump pully on wrong so it didnt line up right. amigo-2k 02-15-2007, 08:32 PM was it an oem tensioner? dfr4444 02-15-2007, 10:23 PM Thanks guys or gals....all started when I threw the belt on the way to fire station(work). Replaced tensioner pulley, idler pulley and new belt. My game plan is try another belt and replace fan pulley....if that doesn't work then harmonic balancer..... I'll let ya'll know tomorrow. Steve dfr4444 02-16-2007, 07:43 PM Fan belt support/Fan Bracket......Dealer only part..$275.00. So wrong to rip on a BS part...My last Isuzu or Honda, Steve trooperbc 02-16-2007, 09:03 PM damn. can't blame you if you're not in the mood, but....Fan belt support/Fan Bracket......Dealer only part..$275.00. that was parts *and* labor, right? and, what was wrong with it? thanks, and sorry to hear the nasty news. //bc dfr4444 02-19-2007, 08:24 AM Part only 275.00. The bushing that holds the fan clutch and pulley moved forward on the shaft about 1/4 inch...FYI if my wife had not needed it the next day and I had not already bought the part....I would have tapped it back down with a socket and hammer then tack welded it.
