99 Passport tranny makes it to 175kamigo-2k 02-11-2007, 08:09 PM http://forum.planetisuzoo.com/viewtopic.php?t=11182 He was a frequent poster here and kept up with tranny maintenance. His auto tranny made it to 175k before it needed a rebuild. Ramblin Fever 02-11-2007, 09:05 PM Hope mine makes it past that - have 170k now!!! Funny thing, after I replaced the MAP sensor, truck got even smoother, course that stupid CEL finally went permamently away at that time too. I'll be happy if I can get at least, 220-250K or so. She's not doing any more towing, so hopefully. surferfletch 02-11-2007, 09:30 PM 175K, huh? I think I'd go ahead and get a rebuild with this truck. I'm due for a filter and gaskets changeout. It's got to be done before our summer trip to NH. We're at 159,737 miles now. Maybe I ought to start asking around for shops familiar with this tranny... Ramblin Fever 02-12-2007, 12:21 AM Don't jinx yourself Surferfletch! Remember, it's not just in how *often* the fluid gets changed in a tranny; it's also how you drive that auto that can make a difference too. I'm not saying this 175k tranny/truck owner drove theirs rough, but maybe the driving regimen was different then what you or I see. There's a LOT of variables, but I do see tranny issues being more of an issue being mated to the engines that have more umph; namingly the trooper and the 3.2L Dohc engine's. There isn't a week that goes by on the Planet that I don't see a newer Rodeo or Trooper posting about tranny issues. I also see those older Rodeo's posting too; say the 93-95yrs, but not as common, AND they are also older too. Who know's - but I too will definitely either get another tranny or a rebuild, when the time comes; but what I can't decide, is what would be best, as I hear the rebuild's don't typically last real long. surferfletch 02-12-2007, 10:13 PM Problem is that I'm not putting the miles on it now. And the last time I swapped fluid, I found good sized shavings in there that I'd never seen before. I don't know if I should attribute that to my teenage driver or the shop that had to drop the tranny to work on a coolant leak at the back of the engine. We'll see what it looks like this time... vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
