My car is in the shop right now getting some body work done, and I want to have the door handles shaved. I have been searching and reading, trying to find the information I want, but I couldn't get any definite answers. Here's my list of questions, please help me out! I have a 2000 Pontiac Firebird, so everything pertains to it.

1. First, I don't have power locks or windows now, is this necessary to start off with?

2. I am sure I am going with an AutoLoc kit, just because of their reputation. I was thinking about using this basic kit, because I don't need an alarm or anything, just something simple to pop open my doors a little. Do I need any other accessories, or is this complete enough? http://www.thehoffmangroup.com/Autoloc/detail_reviews.lasso?itemid=SVPRO1

3. I don't want my doors swinging open at a hundred miles an hour, but I want them to pop open just enough to where I can just pull them open, will those 11 lb. solenoids be enough? I read somewhere that 8lb. is fine for most imports.

you MUST have the power lock solenoids for this, power windows have nothing to do with it. I doubt the an 11 lb door popper would push the door out more than 6" or so. You may need the more powerful solenoid if you aftermarket speakers and dynamat material in the doors.
