Ok, I have a piece of sh#$ 96 cirrus with a 2.5 v6. Worst most annoying car ever produced, but anyway. My fathers a mechanic but cant seem to figure this out so he gave it to me. Now, the car runs good untill it warms up. A couple miles after warm it starts sputterring real bed, and 90% of the time it will just die and will not start for a couple hrs. When i come back hrs later it will start right up. My dad replaced the distributor with an aftermarket one 2 mnths ago and replaced the crank sensor at the same time. What the hek could it be. IM ABOUT TO DRIVE IT OFF A CLIFF:banghead:

Were there any trouble codes? When the problem occurs, if the vehicle cranks good but won't start, have somebody crank it, while you check for spark at the plugs and injector pulse. Anything?

A start and stall, could be EGR valve stuck open--restricted exhaust.

If it is temp related, you might check the CTS. I'm not telling you to replace anything, do some testing.

Was the problem going on before the distributor was replaced?

Check for cracks in your distributor. It may be that you have a hairline crack in it that expands when the engine is hot which is why it runs fine when cold.

I had the same problem with a 1999 and that was the cause.
