I'm just about to start a TT swap in my '93 convertible. I imported a '92 JDM TT, 5 speed clip from Japan that arrived a couple weeks ago. The na drivetrain is out of the 93 convertible, & the JDM, 92 TT clip is sitting here waiting. My question is regarding the engine harness. The Nissan part number appears to be the same for the '93 na convertible, & the '92 TT. This would tell me that the harness doesn't need to be changed for this conversion, although even if I can use the harness in the 93 convertible I was planning to replace the coil & injector plugs. According to concept z performance, part number nis300-b401192 fits 92 na, 92 tt, & 93 na convert. It's at this link: http://www.conceptzperformance.com/Cart/description.php?II=806&Car_Type=NIS300&UID=2007020622233164.83.213.156 Does that make sense that the na & tt would take the same harness? Or does concept z have incorrect information on their site? Any input from you Z gods?

"Z gods"? Not quite I would think. ;)

Here is some good reading for TT swaps:

The NA main engine harness should work with the TT, the only boost related wiring on that would be the stock boost solenoids which you can ditch if you're getting an aftermarket boost controller.

I did figure I would get a boost controller, but if that doesn't get done immediately, one would assume that if the '93 convertible harness, & the '92 tt harness are the same, that my '93 na convertible harness will have an unused plug/plugs on it somewhere for the stock boost solenoids? Any recommendations on boost controllers for the z32?

I don't think they are identical because I can't see all the covertibles in the world driving around with unused plugs. Best way would be to just compare the two when the engine is out, since you have to have everything apart anyway. And just because they have the same part number doesn't mean they are the same.

I have a GReddy Profec and I like it. It's easy to use and the install is simple. It's a bonus to install when the engine is out because you can delete all of the old lines and route the new ones the correct way rather than run a million feet of hose. Just from reading TT.net there is apparently quite a few people that have had problems with the Profec holding steady boost at full throttle, having it dance up and down a psi or two. I haven't encountered this issue but then I haven't gone to the dyno where I could really watch it close either. Usually when I'm at full boost I'm not inclined to take my eyes off the road but it seems to hold steady at the 13 psi I have it set for.

Some more expensive options that others have had good luck with are the Apexi AVC-R and the Blitz SBC.

the N/A harness will work with the swap but you will need an aftermarket boost controller as the N/A harness does not have the stock boost solenoid plugs.

if money were no concern, i would go with the Blitz SBC series followed closely by the Apexi AVCR. but money was a concern and went with the Greddy Profec B Spec II but have not had the ability to give much input on it except the install is pretty straight forward.

Well, I am leaving in the original efi harness, so I'll report back, & tell you how it worked. Everything for the TT conversion on the front of the car was installed last week (intercoolers, radiator, a/c cond, etc), & about $2000+ worth of maintenance parts & a few other goodies on the engine are being installed now, & should be done this weekend. Parts include: timing components, motor mounts, Stillen ported & polished exhaust manifolds, JWT clutch & pressure plate, underdrive pulley & belts, all of the pcv hoses & valves, rear main seal, heater hoses, & a bunch of other stuff. Should be ready to start installing the TT drivetrain in the convertible in a few days. It sure would have been a lot easier if Nissan would have just made the vert with the TT engine. Oh well, I'll have one of the few verts with a TwinTurbo decal on the back. :-)
