my 1997 tacoma will not engage in forur wheel drive please help

need a bit more info Terry, are the front hubs manual? or are they automatic? are you getting the indicator that the 4 wheel drive is engaged?
does it "feel" like you're shifting the transfer case? what kind of noise's do you hear?
