Rebuilding engine.

Hello, I was wondering if a 2005 Chrysler 300c 2.7 short block would work in a 1998 Dodge Intrepid 2.7? I know that to swap an engine it has to be 98 - 01 or 02, But since it just the block, would it work? Thanks A Bunch!

Probally not.Chrysler redesigned the 2.7 in 2002.You might consider doing a 2.7 to 3.2/3.5 conversion instead.The 2.7 computer will work with the 3.2/3.5.An used 2.7 is hard to find and is $2,000.00 to $3,000.00 if you find one with no warranty.If you want to put a 2.7 in,look into a Jasper and Jasper does rebuild the 2.7.Part of the warranty on a 2.7 from Jasper is to change the oil every 3,000 miles and keep the reciepts for the oil changes.

Thanks so much for your reply. We had planned on doing a conversion anyway. We found the 2.7 block pretty cheap advertised and wondered if we could use it. The 2.7 we have in the car has a hole in the block. Thanks again.
