Either No 4WD, or no Dash Light for 4x4sollybro 02-04-2007, 04:19 PM When I change into 4h from 2wd, i notice no dash light indicating the shift. Then i put it in Neutral, shift to 4l, and still no dash light. Eventually, after i shut the car off, and restart Ive noticed the light turn on, so the bulb is ok. Any advice? Thanks! HI JOHN 02-05-2007, 05:13 AM First you need to find out if your 4x4 works. You can check if it works by puting it on 4H or 4L, make sure you are on a dirt road or sand or snow. Than you turn the wheel all the way right or left and drive. You will fill the jerking on the stering wheel. If you feel it, it means is working and your 4x4 switch is DOA. You can get one only at the dealer and is around $50 buck. The switch goes on top on the front axel on the driver side next to the vaccum pump acctuator. If you don't notice any difference affter engaging the 4x4 and making turns, then your problem is one of two things. 1. Your vaccum realays don't work 2. Your vaccum acctuator don't work eather. This two parts are next to each other. P.S. Your vaccum valve may not work eather. The valve is black and orange and comes right out of the intake manifold. Eather way, very easy to diagnose and fix. You have to choises, 1 to buy the DOA part and replace or make it manual by instaling nanual hubs. The vaccum actuator pump$200 and same for the relays. Manual hubs brand new $70 ebay and labor maybe 2hrs. easy labor. Harder part is to take tires off with out braking a lug nut. I have posted the procedure in the past. I have a 97 4x4 with 120K:popcorn: vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
