88 Trooper transmission swap

Has anyone ever swapped an 88 trooper transmission with one out of an 86 model.

I am in the process right now and need some help.

I have rebuilt the tranny in the 88 isuzu trooper and even have an extra but I would never consider replacing it with an older one.
