A 325i? Go for it. If I'm not mistaken, it has the 2.5 v-6, right? It's a solid car, and has the power you need, but watch the brakes. The brakes tend to wear out on beemers, especially the 325i, when you're using them for racing. The weight is also an issue, but that's what turbo is for...
Alot of people don't realize that BMW's are great for racing, and the company has produced several models such as the 740iL and the gtr that, well, if you see them in the slow lane of the autobahn, it's probably the driver.
Best of luck with the 325i drag project.

Ehh... There is a long time poster on here that drives a E46 325i and its lack of speed is driving him nuts. An E46 BMW is a really expensive car to be drag-racing. There are much cheaper cars out there that would be significantly better. You also have to ask if you want to ruin the daily-drivability of your car by tuning it. As far as I'm concerned, the E46 is one of the best daily driver cars out there, and tuning will harm that. Unless you have lots of money to throw at a BMW, they usually arn't great drag racers. Most people that drag race BMWs (at least that I've seen) tend to like older 3-series like the E30 and E36.

Now that I've warned you, if you still want to pour money into the car, look here-

thanks a lot for the info, and i think i might have mislead some people by saying 'drag'. i really mean just highway use, but starting from the stoplights, i wanna be able to win or atleast be able to pull away from them a bit :grinyes:

the 325 is not a v6 its an inline hence the i in 325i and the brakes are great on the bmws and the 325 has the same brakes as the 318 or 325 328 and there really good brakes ...if you want a fast 3 series to cruise the streets ant beat a couple mustangs at the strip then go for it...i just bought a 99 328 and im going to put a super charger on and it will be a great street drag car and the brake thing is nonsence unless you doing some serious road racing nailing the brakes every turn ..this is my third bmw and there good cars..
