I am looking for a replacement CD-player/AM/FM stereo for my car. Currently the stock tape/am/fm is there. I like many of the features. specifically, I can tune up/down, seek, and scan by touching those buttons on the stereo. there is one button for each function.
However, when looking at new stereos online and at the local shops, these buttons no longer exist. one shop owner told me you have to scroll through menus to get to the various functions. I suppose this is a cost cutting move, albeit possibly a hazardous one for a car. but even the higher end units have the same set of buttons.
Does anyone know of a CD player with am/fm that has the same functionality of the older (say early 90s) stereos? one button for each of those functions. or have the cost-cutting accountants taken over the product design department?
Thanks for any assistance.

Look at the features on them. Alot of them come with remotes with those buttons on them. My alpine doesnt have the buttons listed but the features are there. My panasonics had the same feature and also had the remote feature which was nice while driving, didnt even have to lean in to touch the HU.
Its not really a cost cutting thing its more or less a way to keep HU's clean and simplelooking but keep the features and more than what the factory ones do. whats your price range i can do some looking for you, and you should go back and kick the shop owner in the his nuts, hes and idiot.

90% of the functions are set and forget ... stuff like setup options, EQ, xover, etc ... like pimp said, learn your remote - it has most of the stuff you use all the time on it.
