I just got a 96 cavalier, it has a cassete deck and the front speakers are about to blow. I was planning on getting a cd deck for around $180-200 (probably pioneer, kenwood, or alpine) and either 4x6 (which the stock speakers are in the front door) or 5 1/4 or 6 1/2 components. I was wondering which type of speakers would be the best bang for buck (low budget). I am not planning on buying an amp or subs. Could a aftermarket cd deck for about that much give enough power to actually use the benefits of components or would I be better off just getting some new 4x6's?
Any input will be greatly appreciated

THe 4x6 will be the most inexpensive route. Pioneer and Infinity makes good 4x6's. If you ever plan on getting an amp then look at getting a kickpanel with a component set to go in it. I would recommend Diamond Audio's CM3 series component set (had to plug my peeps somehow).

well the 4x6s are the ceapest but if you want a little bass u should do what lloyd said some other good components are rockford fantastic X pioneer also has a cheap pair of components.

sure 4 x 6 is the easy option but you will probably regret it in the long run so you may as well save the money and get a decent set of components put in there to begin with.

My only concern is if he doesn't use an amplifier for the component set he will run the risk of blowing them through distortion. Especially the tweeters (which are retarded expensive to replace by themselves). I will stick by what I said, no power amp = no components.
