View Full Version : Clear coat showing....etc Clear coat showing....etc z24forlife 01-22-2007, 01:19 PM Thanks  gw84 01-22-2007, 03:51 PM from what I've been told, there isn't much you can do short of repainting:( My lower bumper is missing clearcoat as well. It's really bad. There's also a large spot on top of my bumper that has begun to peel. The paint without clearcoat has already faded quite a bit, so I'm just going to have the whole bumper painted. One would think that there would be a way to smooth out the edge where the clearcoat ends, then re-apply some clear. I don't know. It's always a GM vehicle! Oh well, Good Luck with yours! http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/503/455507100_2091.JPG gthompson97 01-23-2007, 10:06 PM Sanding on a spot where the clearcoat is missing will only make things worse, you'll be sanding actual paint instead of the clearcoat, and paint doesn't like scratches, no matter how small. There is really no way to hide peeling clearcoat except to re-paint. If that's the case, I suggest doing the whole panel, because a spot fix won't fix the actual base of the problem. gw84 01-24-2007, 11:35 AM what should we expect to spend to have a bumper repainted? I'm certainly not doing my work myself!! no experience. Related Links Participate in thousands of discussions at AutomotiveForums.com! Registration is absolutely free. |
