2002 Blazer - How do I reattach the rear defrost cable?

Hello Everyone,
I have a 2002 Chevy Blazer Extreme. This has the two part endgate (glass goes up, gate goes down). A while back when it was still under warranty one of the cables that connects the rear defrost came loose from the back glass. I took it to the dealership and they fixed it no problem. It has recently came loose again, and I'd much rather fix it myself than take it somewhere since it seems pretty simple. I just don't want to screw anything up. Basically it's the little curly-que black cable that then connects to two metal parts that look like they are glued or epoxyed to the glass. I guess I just need to re-glue it, but like I said I don't want to screw anything up. Do I need any sort of special glue or epoxy? Do I need to clean the metal connectors first? Any help would be appreciated.

Glue will not conduct electricity. The terminals are soldered on to the grid. Rather a tricky procedure to reattach without breaking the glass. Using a soldering iron alone will shatter the glass. Better leave that one to the dealer, if they break the glass, it's their problem. Well worth the money spent to have them do it.

If you go to any good parts store they will have a kit that has a conductive glue in it that is designed just for this. I believe permitex makes this kit. Korey

I've used the glue kit on mine almost anually then just went and soldered mine together and it's stayed fine for well over a year. Just make sure the glass isn't really cold before you do it. Ya know bring it inside or something like that. It takes about 2 minues and last better than the kits.

I put a wet wash cloth on the back side of the glass to help disipate heat while soldering. Haven't broke one......yet ;)
