Car not starting after sitting awhile, what should I check?Lances133 01-21-2007, 05:26 PM I recently sold my 96 2.2 to my step brother, he drove it fine for the first 2 days, and now it's not starting. *He said it sounds like it wants to but it's just not. *It's got plenty of fuel and he said it should be getting enough juice *It's been sitting for a few months with some starts in between so I could get it inspected. *It's just recently gotten pretty cold here aswell. Any ideas? What are some things I should check? The car has always started up fine before this and like I said he drove it for 2 days "babying" it and it was fine. I really don't want to have to give him his money back and take this car back I'M FCKING DONE WITH IT :banghead: Classicrocjunkie 01-21-2007, 09:55 PM make sure it has fuel, spark foremost. If you are 100% sure on those, possible CPS has gone bad. If thats malfunctioning the car is just going to flood out due to not knowing when to fire properly. z24forlife 01-22-2007, 12:07 AM have you checked the fuel pump... sounds like somthing but doesnt sound to serious tho.. good luck  CavLCD128 01-22-2007, 01:51 PM plugs and wires first...ignition is key! wafrederick 01-24-2007, 06:30 PM Check the fuel pressure with a fuel pressure gauge. i3o2Matt 01-26-2007, 12:41 AM how old is the battery? Cold_Silence 01-29-2007, 03:26 AM Yes i would check the battery, ignition setup, then fuel delivery. If it was working fine for you it should be something simple and/or related to the cold. Im sure you will figure it out. :) vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
