2000 Chevy Blazer antifreeze leakksw1977 01-16-2007, 06:14 PM My Blazer has a large antifreeze leak. I'm having to fill the radiator almost every day. It seems to be near the back of the engine block, but I cannot see the leak itself. It is below the point where i can see it from the top and too high for me to find it from underneath. It runs down from somewhere in the engine/tranny area onto the exhaust. It only seems to leak when the accelerator is depressed. The funny thing about all of this is that the truck does not overheat! Anyone have any ideas? ZL1power69 01-16-2007, 08:52 PM welcome to af. it sounds like you might have a leaking lower intake gasket. how many miles are on your truck? ksw1977 01-17-2007, 07:24 PM The Blazer has 150,000 miles on it. So how hard of of fix would that be? Can I do it myself, or do I need to find a shop? Is this something that Bars Stop leak would take care of? I've heard that it might, and I listened to my friends that told me this. It didn't work and then of course I find out about what other problems it can cause. ZL1power69 01-17-2007, 10:42 PM the lower gasket leak is pretty common, and usually develops above 100,000 miles. don't use stop leak or anything like that, it causes more harm then good. if you are mechanically inclinded then you can replace it yourself. if your not, then have a shop do it. manwiththeplan88 01-19-2007, 05:18 PM :frown: I had the same problem and same symptoms as you do on my 97 blazer with 170,000 miles. I had to refill coolant as often as you and the leak was in the same place. Mine did start overheating though. I took it to the shop and it did end up being a blown intake gasket which cost me $360 labor plus the new intake around $100, and a new thermostat which was cheap. I was told it was very common on blazers and my mechanic said he does a blazer a week for this same problem, thats amazing. If you can fix this yourself you will save a bunc of money. Good luck ksw1977 01-22-2007, 06:38 PM OK...Thanx guys, I'm going to have my old ladies ex make sure that is the problem and fix it for me. If that doesn't seem to be the problem, I'll let you guys know and see if you have any other ideas vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
