90 Buick Century Vs 98 Chevy k1500doberman_52 01-16-2007, 03:02 AM On my way home from work one evening and i stoped at a light on some side streets in town, there was a riced up 98? chevy k1500, neons, paint, rims, sound system, i would guess probly close to stock, 5 litre i think, vs my 90 buick century, 3.3 Litre V6, only mod is a high flow muffler and sound system, at light i just go, thinkin he might not and didnt care, but he goes, keeps up for a lil while, falls back, then starts pullin up around 80, we both let off because there is a fairly sharp cuve and some construction coming up, the thing is, wouldnt a 5 litre be able beat my V6? im just curious -The Stig- 01-16-2007, 03:42 AM You sure it was a K1500? Because a K-series is 4x4... a C1500 is 2 wheel-drive. Should of had a 4x4 sticker or Z71 decal on the bed if it was infact a K-series. Anywho... depending on the size of the rims, how much sound equiptment it had stuffed into it... speakers get heavy, and trim of the truck (single cab, extended cab, short bed, long bed) and if it had a 5.0L or a 5.7L. They're heavy trucks, not to mention it probably has some miles on it. Most trucks of that age around here are pushing well over 100,000 miles. It's easy to concieve that it lost. doberman_52 01-16-2007, 09:04 AM looked just like my dads except mint condition, like a show or race car might, it was a 4x4 or z71, i have subs and such too so i know how heavy they can be, i just thought it would have more power than that, but then with rice you never know for sure, ok midgetracing28 01-16-2007, 10:15 AM Dude its a truck why would you street race a truck with a Buick? Actually why would you try an race anything with a Buick(unless it was a gs or gnx)? Pickups arent designed to race so you can pretty much beat them with anything. Not to mention if they got those big idiotic rims on it the truck was probably crying inside lol. doberman_52 01-16-2007, 11:13 AM ohh, i also may have had a blown head gasket too, lol, yea, i just figured it would be decent, my dad has one too, and it doesnt seem to bad, i would think it should be able to keep with me or so, but i can keep with a 300zx too Gotian 01-16-2007, 11:57 AM ohh, i also may have had a blown head gasket too, lol, yea, i just figured it would be decent, my dad has one too, and it doesnt seem to bad, i would think it should be able to keep with me or so, but i can keep with a 300zx too what does a 300z have to do with this race? and besides the N/A 300zx's are slow cause they are very, very heavy. doberman_52 01-16-2007, 01:41 PM what does a 300z have to do with this race? and besides the N/A 300zx's are slow cause they are very, very heavy.yea, he has some mods to it so its not quite so slow, but still, a grandma car vs sports car, but im gonna make some vids of me ramping this buick soon, drifting with it and such, i found some dirt bike trails and such ewere my friends and i are going to mess it up, not worth fixxin, gotta have some fun Masonovsky! 01-16-2007, 04:31 PM Dude its a truck why would you street race a truck with a Buick? Not to mention if they got those big idiotic rims on it the truck was probably crying inside lol. There is nothing wrong with racing a Buick. Also there are some somewhat fast Buicks besides the gs and gnx like the ones with the blown 3800 or the new Northstar ones. Plus racing in a Buick lets u race in comfort 98BlackTransAm 01-17-2007, 03:55 PM Plus racing in a Buick lets u race in comfort :rofl: Pickups arent designed to race so you can pretty much beat them with anything. umm..you ever raced an srt10 or an f150 lightning? i would definately consider those high-performance trucks even in stock strim. -The Stig- 01-17-2007, 04:44 PM umm..you ever raced an srt10 or an f150 lightning? i would definately consider those high-performance trucks even in stock strim. Yeah, but they're still not that impressive. They have big traction issues in stock form, and since they're trucks they don't have the greatest top ends due to lack of aerodynamics. Man, It seems that everytime I leave the site for awhile and make a return, some idiot is talking about how slow trucks are and not made to race.Freakin Newbies kill me! I race a truck, and last time I checked, an 11 sec daily driver isn't that slow, especially for a truck......... Oh, yeah, fwiw......stock srt10s and Lightnings=not fast :grinno: Masonovsky! 01-17-2007, 05:45 PM midgetracing28 you are on Notice....congratulations. doberman_52 01-17-2007, 10:44 PM Plus racing in a Buick lets u race in comfort For sure, the 3.8 V6 blown regals are pretty nice, if i had the money to i might actually put a blown 3.8 in this but I said screw that a whle ago, it would be funny as hell to see the look on somebody's face to see them get completly wasted by a granny car, lol, anyone know how to put vids online? I would like to know because i wanna tape my demolition and such of this car in a few weeks. -The Stig- 01-17-2007, 11:06 PM www.youtube.com easiest way. doberman_52 01-17-2007, 11:15 PM www.youtube.com (http://www.youtube.com) easiest way.Ok, I dont need any special cards to convert the video if I download it from the camera to someting like windows moviemaker or adobe's movie deal, do I? If I did it with one of those, I could just upload it? -The Stig- 01-17-2007, 11:17 PM You shouldn't. Should just be able to upload it onto the computer do a quick edit in windows moviemaker, then upload to the net. doberman_52 01-17-2007, 11:22 PM Ok, my older brother who makes music vids told me about some card you had to buy and such, I wasnt sure though, I will try it soon with some other vids im makin this week. Thanks Chiquae07 01-17-2007, 11:57 PM mini dv - to computer = firewire if im not wrong. doberman_52 01-18-2007, 12:50 AM It was some kind of conversion card that he was talking about, I know you can use firewire or usb for the camera that I will borrow from my school to do the shoots to put on the computer. 98BlackTransAm 01-18-2007, 03:31 AM Oh, yeah, fwiw......stock srt10s and Lightnings=not fast :grinno: yeah they're not fast compared to my car, but they dont fall under the category "you can pretty much beat them with anything." they both run 13's stock, and last time I checked most cars on the road don't run under 14's. and i've seen srt10's, lightnings, and deisel trucks that all run 11's with ease, and a couple 10 second lightnings as well. I think we have a different perspective on what fast is.........I'm not arguing any of the "facts" you posted above, just stated that they are not as fast as everyone thinks they are stock. The srt10 is extremely hard to drive into the 13s due to traction issues, weight, shifting, etc. and the Lightning is much more often a 14 second truck stock than a 13 second truck. A 500hp Viper truck that barely scratches 13s is not fast in my book. :2cents: Masonovsky! 01-18-2007, 02:18 PM I think we have a different perspective on what fast is.........I'm not arguing any of the "facts" you posted above, just stated that they are not as fast as everyone thinks they are stock.
