I know this may be a sore subject for some... :o don't mean to open any old wounds... but...

Have you built a replica of your own car in scale?
If so, tell us all about it! :D Or better yet, show us pics! Side by side comparisons welcome! :sun:

I have not. :( No kit exists of a 3rd generation Honda Accord, and the closest thing would be a Prelude of the time (which isn't really that close.) I may have to do the wife's car.... :p A Toyota ECHO. :o :hehe:

no, sadly no one makes a tercel model. some of you may know it as a corsa. i might get an platz and try to convert it, but i need to get resin casting down first. still waiting for the supplies to come. any day now.

This is the only model I've made of the 9 cars and one motorcycle that I've owned.

http://images.fotki.com/v1/photos/1/10258/17860/MyLXF-or.jpg
This was built from about 5 different kits, long before any resin was available. Body was an '83 Mustang convertible w/SVO roof and TBird Turbo coupe rear window and trim, front end modified from the New Monkees Mustang convertible. Interior/motor a combination of MPC and Monogram parts from 1988 kit sources.

I took pix of my car, used the photographs for the tag and the emblems.

I haven't yet, but I am in the process of sourcing the paint for the body, Subaru Brilliant Red, and I am getting some Tamiya parts to do the interior door detail as the '98 WRC model door detail is actually close to my car, I will modify it to be exact.
I have the fujimi kit, like the one Daggerlee just built for the basis of my car, but I am going to build it as a '98 2.5 RS.....

I've made the replica based on two existing cars for my room mate and friend, but strangely not mine yet. Ex-my car is in progress, and '81 280ZX kit is converted to '83, and waiting for the interior to be done.
The completed two cars were '84 Thunderbird based on the drag car with '87 chassis and rear finders from a Monogram kit. I forgot what I did to the interior, but it was fairly accurate. The other was the Murker XR4Ti, which was based on Tamiya's Sierra kit with 4cyl turbo from Monogram's '87 Thunderbird kit, custom photo etched badges and scratchbuilt wheels.
Sadly, no photos...

I had a semi-replica of my old car (2000 Integra GSR using the Revel ITR painted red with carbon fiber hood just like my real car) but they don't have an Eclipse model out yet so I have to wait. When it comes out, hopefully I can find some rims that look close to Volk GTN's so I can make an accurate replica.

I'm driving a - boring - french Citroen ZX 1.9D, no one ever did a kit except for Heller in 1/43 scale, but then it was the ZX Rally Raid car "Paris Dakar winner", not even close! :D I wouldn't mind though driving the Rally Raid one on a daily basis. :D :D

Right now I'm looking in replacing it, by a Citroen Xsara VTR 110 HDI, but also there: no chance, except for again Heller in 1/24 scale, but this time it's the WRC and the VTR's not even close either. Again, I wouldn't botter to drive a WRC road version on a daily basis - Like Scoob WRX or Lancer EVO7... But Citroen has no plans in that direction, so...

Maybe I should buy a Merc  , at least then I can do a model of my own car :D :D

This is as close as I've been able to get. Originally I built this model as an "Almost Straight from the Box" feature when I was on the staff of FineScale Modeler. I had to build it on a very short deadline, and it's not one of my best examples. When I moved to Scale Auto Enthusiast a couple of years later, I decorated it with the 20th Anniversary stock car decals we put out. They were nice and big, and did a good job of covering the orange peel! The luggage rack is styrene strip, and the boxes are from Verlinden's garage box set.

I need to dig out another copy of Tamiya's kit and do a decent replica, I guess.

Matt

P.S.: Here's the full-size car, guarded by Fern the Wonder Beagle (and dig my cool garage door!):

No one makes a model of a 6th gen civic coupe yet, I'm on a waiting list at my local shop for the 99' Civic Si from Revell, should get in January or February, but I think I'm going to build it as stock SI, I don't see the point modding it to an EX, although all I'd need to do is make a SOHC engine and change the headrests. Hmmmmmm??

Maybe I should put myself down for two??

I'm still working on it...
I'm going to work and school full time now and I haven't had the time to get more putty to finish up the sides of the car, I still need to do the mold lines and clean up the door lines a bit.... Also, the front bumper is too long and looks kinda funny to me so I'm goin to move the front wheel arches foward to give the car a longer wheel base and make the body look more balanced so it looks more like my actual car...

Yes, it was an Mazda MX5/Miata. Used to have the Brooklands edition, BRG with beige leather and roof. My ex still has the car in Southampton and I have the little version.

Only problem was that the only kit I could find at the time was LHD and mine was a UK car. Don't think anyone ever really noticed though.

Model of it? Heck, I haven't even finished the REAL car yet!! I have a Mongram 1/8 scale kit of the Camaro and I'm building it as I build the real car up. Some of the things I've done to the real car started as ideas on the model, it's more a prototype than a model!!

Well the tamiya 180sx kit would have been a perfect match for my car...but then I decided to put a 91 front bumper on my car, so the less desirable fujimi kit is king now. But, I am going to wait until I finsh what I am doing to it(lots of jdm goodness) to build my replica(hoping to see some more tamiya 180sx conversion pieces from SAS:) ). I'm actually working on a model of one of my real life vehicles now, a 2001 Ford Explorer XLT Sport. I'm using the AMT/ERTL 1997 Limited kit which is not exactly the greatest kit ut hey, gotta work with what you've got.
I've have to do some major mods to the rear end of the kit because the 98-01's have the plate cut out in the rear lift gate. Had to steal the back curved rear glass from a Tamiya Jeep Grand Cherokee I picked up real cheap on ebay for the nice tires from that kit for another project. Also, used one of the seats from the Tamiya kit to make the seats that are in my real seat and then gonna cast a copy for the passenger seat. The next mod I had to do was to convert the kit's grille into the 99-01 models style front bumper with the round fog light cut outs.
Other than that, the kit it basically stock. The only problem I am having is the wheels. No kits have my wheels and there is no way I am going to be able to scratchbuild them. Maybe I will just pick out a nice set of model wheels and then buy a set of real ones to match the kit.

I have a kit of my motor that is in my 'to-do' pile. It's a Toyota Yaris (Echo/Vitz). There are a few modeifications to consider such as:

-converting it into a right hand drive.

-converting it from a 4 door into a 2 door.

-wheels.

-increasing the width of the front and rear bumpers to accept UK licence plates.

Shouldn't be too hard, I will post pics when I start it.

I have also purchased a Fujimi Golf MK3 to convert into my dads VW Vento. Now that'll be a rather interesting conversion.

i am doing a shitty 1:25 model from all american models of the truck i am building in 1:1 scale. a 80's 2wd 2 door s10 blazer with a 350 small block chevy v8 conversion, th350 tranny, a phantom grill, shaved roof rack, 68 camaro tail lights, and a toyota truck bumper conversion . the kit i have coming to my house is resin and is only the body. i have to buy the s10 truck to get the hood ect... and have to do alot of mod work for the roof rack and phantom grill.

this is my first model since i was a kid, but i have been doing a lot of research on this site, so the 30 bucks i spent on the resin body, and the 10 i spent on the s10 truck doesnt go to waste. i am also in the middle of a 1:64 scale model(hotwheels) of the same truck. i had to get a 4x4, so the frame is gonna be custom, and i will get the engine and wheels off of a 100% hotwheels car(already got the wheels). this has become more of a challenge than i originally thought. the wheels are giving me trouble, and i am tring to figure out how i am gonna do the windows for such a little car.
