I did my back brakes a few weeks ago and i realized the back brake is leaking doesnt look like its coming from the line...u can see it running down that shield looking thing behind the rotor...possibly coming out of the piston i had to push back? whats the deal any clues its torn apart right now... thanks

If it's the same as on my 1999, as I was compressing the piston using the two pronged tool, I noticed that the rubber seal was tearing. Since I could see the piston now, I ended up replacing the calipers on both sides. It actually wasn't difficult to replace them. Just take your time. The second one will go faster than the first one.

Maybe you are leaking around the piston seal. The worst thing is you will have to take it back apart or at least take the weel off to see.

For me it was easier to replace the entire caliper. Since I didn't have time, I replaced them. They were $65 each with a $25. core. $40 in the end. two bolts for the caliper, one for the emergency brake. There was one bolt to remove the caliper from the mounting bracket. That was from Advance Auto. They were rebuilt GM parts.

I didn't have the tools or patience to go in and replace the pistons and seals.
