I've got a '97 Escort wagon, that is having a problem with the heater fan. It was working fine, until I cranked it on high for several minutes, and then it stopped working altogether. Checked all the fuses under dash and under hood. I've read about a resistor pack on the 91-96 models going bad. Does anyone know if the '97 wagons also have this resistor? I'll check around the blower motor once my fingers warm up enough!

I recently had to buy a set of visors for it, and found out that it still uses the '96 and earlier visors, so maybe there was some other carryover to the '97 year station wagons, such as the heater system?

Thanks for the help.

COnnect the blower to an alternate power source. If it runs, you will know to check the switch/resistor. If it doesn't run, replace the blower motor.

Turned out to be a simple bad wiring connection at the blower motor. Easily accessible, and an easy fix. I can see how a passenger's feet could disturb this area over time.
