003 pics from a brazilian magazineMac Fan 01-07-2007, 12:48 PM I'm a newbie on this forum and it's my first thread. But I already did some catch up by reading past threads. I'm live in Brazil and never left the country so I never saw a McLaren :disappoin . But I developed a true admiration by the car and I can say that I love this car and want to learn more about it. I'm a engineering student in college and as I pretend to enter the automobilistics area, I have the McLaren F1 as my Holy Grail. Well, but enough of presentations and let's go to the pictures. It comes from the best car related magazine from Brazil. It's from November 1994. The pics are not excellent but they are good. I think the pictures were taken by them, so I don't think you have this. http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q231/plinsavi/th_4120473411TE.jpg (http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q231/plinsavi/4120473411TE.jpg) http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q231/plinsavi/th_4120453411TE.jpg (http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q231/plinsavi/4120453411TE.jpg) http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q231/plinsavi/th_4120433411TE.jpg (http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q231/plinsavi/4120433411TE.jpg) I will make use of this post to make some questions as well (if you don't mind): Q1)I've read in Wikipedia that Car Magazine took the McLaren F1 LM from 0 to 100 in 5.9 s. Can anyone confirm this? Does anyone has scans from the article? Q2)Does anyone has figures of how much downforce the HDF Kit generates? Q3)Above what speed the acceleration of cars with HDF begins to be much lower than the non-HDF Kit? Thanks in advance and congratulations to all for making an excellent forum about this amazing car. PS: I think it's a good idea to make thumbnails of the pictures but I don't know how. Peloton25 01-07-2007, 02:11 PM Great 1st post - welcome to the forum. I took care of the thumbnailing issue for you. Q1)I've read in Wikipedia that Car Magazine took the McLaren F1 LM from 0 to 100 in 5.9 s. Can anyone confirm this? Does anyone has scans from the article? Well the CAR article claims a much higher 6.7 seconds from 0 to 100mph with the LM, but they also mention traction problems that prevented transferring the car's full power to the ground. A 5.9s time may be possible, but wasn't achieved that day. I'll try to dig up some scans - I think I already have them hosted here, but couldn't find them on a quick search of the forum. Q2)Does anyone has figures of how much downforce the HDF Kit generates? If I do, I don't know exactly where to find them at the moment. I will poke around and see what I can come up with for you. Q3)Above what speed the acceleration of cars with HDF begins to be much lower than the non-HDF Kit? This is a table showing the in-gear acceleration numbers that CAR got with the LM -vs- the standard F1. It's not exactly the answer you are looking for as the LM is lighter and has more power, but there are times when the LM is slower so draw your own conclusions from it: http://img.clubphoto.com/jerboa/61492222/348/bcf8c5366198d7d530ccac9a7cca0592/image.jpg I've never seen any acceleration figures from a standard F1 fitted with the HDF Kit. Thanks for the Brazilian mag scans. :) >8^) ER hurstg01 01-07-2007, 02:27 PM Cheers and Welcome!!!!
