Hey, i have a question...im new to this forum and so far it seems like this is the fastest way to get a response. i have a '89 Civic Si. which is a Hb. and my engine on it wont start. when i try to start it theres a thudding sound and theres also a rattling. it is a manual transmission. im thinking that the thudding sound is the timing belt. and a friend said that the rattling might be a piston which went out. what would be easier? going out and buying the replacement parts for the engine or buying a new engine? if its buying a new engine what type of engine that is in a reasonable price range should i get if i want HP? thanx
ps...my car is a 1.6L too if that helps at all

seems like your timming belt broke. and something snaped in the motor. you should just rebuild it with stronger parts for more hp. or just swap a b16a or zc motor in. zc motor, direct bolt in, little wiring, 135 hp, $600 for motor and tranny.

How much would it be to rebuild the engine? where could i find a b16 engine or zc engine? would i pull it out a car at the junk yard or buy it off the internet?
