Just happened to catch an interview of Elon Musk on pbs, and it turns out he is behind Tesla cars as well!

You can watch the interview at www.pbs.org (http://www.pbs.org). Go to wired science and look for Elon Musk.

Personally, I think the car has some way to go, but it's definitely a good advance over any electric car currently out there. Present offerings require an overnight charge...so does the Tesla, but you can charge it for 10 minutes and get an 80 mile range, which is almost comparable to the 5 minutes or so it takes to fill up a regular petrol-powered car.

Enjoy!

Former owner? When did Musk get rid of his F1? I don't recall that information ever coming up on this forum. :dunno:

Errr, I might be wrong about that. Don't know why I had that impression. I think I heard about it, but I guess it wasn't on here. Honestly, I don't remember the details. Peloton, care to shed some light? Does he still own the F1? If so, please remove the offending word from the thread title. :)

As far as I know he's still got it. I'm headed to LAX tomorrow, so I will drive by SpaceX on the way and ask the receptionist. ;)

I don't see any reason he'd sell it - it's not like he needs the money. :grinno: He's also one of the few owners out there who actually drives their car and I can't imagine anyone getting bored of doing that.

I really enjoyed the PBS clip btw. It's great to hear that his SpaceX venture is progressing so well. I also had no idea that he was behind the Tesla cars or I would have given them a bit more attention up in Monterey. They did have a single-car display at this year's LA Auto Show, but when I walked by the representative was busy and I was running out of time that night.

Seems like an OK guy - I hope he hasnt gotten rid of his F1 - like Erik said, it seems he is one of the few who actually uses his F1
