99,000 miles . planning to have timing belt replaced soon by honest, shady tree mechanic. in addition to water pump and tensioner and serp belt, what other parts would you replace? i read something about some hoses to the water pump?? and how many seals are involved ? thanks for any advice.

Sounds like you have it covered. Gaskets shouldn't be an issue if he just uses silicone.

The belt system (compared to a chain) is so simple and forgiving (that is, if the engine is "freewheeling" ... most are nowadays). With the belt, the water pump is usually mounted against the block's coolant chamber ... no "front (chain) cover" with all it's opportunities for mixing oil and coolant.

I have learned to love the "belt".
