What do you mean "there is a gear at 10mph"? Does it do it no matter what gear you slow down in?

well it usually does it when slowing down above 30mph...like if i go 15mph and slow down it wont...and if i go above 30mph in neutral and slow down it wont do it...When i speed up to 10mph the rpms go back down...like it switches gears...
Thanks,Matt
PS. Sorry for any confusion

Is this a manual or auto transmission? Also, if it's an auto like I'm thinking it is, why are you putting it in neutral when slowing down...or did you just do it once to test and see if it made the "thump"?

It's probably shifting down into first at about that speed then. Not really sure what would be wrong though or what would make it thump.
