trans wont shift in overdrive

I have a 1996 chevy 1500 I bought from a cousin he had the tranny rebuilt and then it blowed a intake gasket and it sat for a year. well i bought it.fixed it, but it slips going into 2nd then it will not go into overdrive warranty on the tranny just run out any suggestions will greatly appreciated

Well, to me it sounds like she blow up. Prob a 700r4 and that is the tell tale sign,for me anyways,that it is done.I bet the tv cable was not adjusted right and she had her day.Not a tranny guy here dude just a tech.Take it to a trans shop and you sound get a free diag with a simple drive.

it has a L460E in it guess I should have been more clear. I think maybe it might be the control solenoids but just wanting to see if anyone else thinks so thanks

In 2nd and in 4th, the 2-4 band is applied to stop the sun shell. If it is slipping in 2nd and wont go into 4th, it could be that the band is worn (tranny needs to be removed to replace) or it could be a servo issue (worn seals or worn bore).

The sun shell is a weak part on the 4l60 and 4l60e. If you loose reverse, 2nd and 4th, the sun shell is toast.

the tranny was just rebuilt a year ago and didnt even get driven but about a week or so. it sat for about 11 months

If you can take it back where the trans. was rebuilt,they might be able to sort it out for low/no charge.
