Stock 2006 WRX vs....oh crap!subieskier 12-26-2006, 03:52 PM So here I am in line at the onramp to I-5, which is a metered two-lane road. Perfect for mano-a-mano 0-70 fun. Looked to my right, some econobox. He goes green first, putters away, and a couple of seconds later, I get my green and do an easy start, with the intention of hammering it once the r's are up for a little fun. All of a sudden, I see headlights from a hard launch coming fast in the right lane in back of me. The bastard had jumped the green and had a pretty good hole shot coming my way. At this point I hammer it, but revs are only 2500 or so in first...come on boost..please! Boost kicks in right as the other car is level, but I can still see this as yet unknown vehicle gaining by me...I bang a 1-2 shift so hard that my sunroof cover flies back. But the other car is an auto, and during my shift I see the tailights shoot by: a C-6! I guess I should have kept an eye on my mirror. If I had seen him, and had a good launch, perhaps I would have annoyed him a bit and postponed the inevitable. That guy definitely knew how to drive against a Subie. VR43000GT 12-26-2006, 04:00 PM  Parts of that post made me laugh. *Lots of turbo lag from a WRX *Shift so hard you sunroof cover flies back *And you don't really need to know how to drive well in order to beat a WRX with an auto C6. GForce957 12-26-2006, 05:41 PM I think in order to drive well with an auto C6 against a WRX it takes alot of steps.... Step 1. Floor it. Step 2. Keep it floored for a few seconds, nothing long so your foot doesn't get tired Step 3. Look behind you at WRX freakray 12-26-2006, 07:24 PM If you're not getting any boost at 2500rpm on a 2006 WRX, you need to see your dealer. subieskier 12-26-2006, 07:28 PM I think in order to drive well with an auto C6 against a WRX it takes alot of steps.... Look behind you at WRX There ARE steps a WRX owner can take to beat a C-6: 1) Race it on snow. 2) Pay the C-6 driver to lose. 3) Bolt the rear bumper of the WRX to the front bumper of the 'Vette. It can be done! freakray 12-26-2006, 07:29 PM There ARE steps a WRX owner can take to beat a C-6: 1) Race it on snow. 2) Pay the C-6 driver to lose. 3) Bolt the rear bumper of the WRX to the front bumper of the 'Vette. You're right -- it was probably closer to 2000 rpm; I wasn't watching the tach when I first floored it, and does start to come on well before 3 grand. I have hand-timed some 0-60's and they usually come in at a touch less than 6 seconds, so it seems I should be within engineering specs. subieskier 12-26-2006, 07:39 PM How long have you owned your WRX and is it your first WRX? Yes, and I have waited a long time to be able to buy one. Had years of practice on a '72 510, though. This car is everything I wanted my 510 to be, although I think the 510 was the fastest stopping car I have ever driven. Badass little cars. subieskier 12-27-2006, 12:44 AM you still got the 510? Badass little cars. Wish I did. I bought a truck to do part-time landscaping, and had to sell either the 510 or my 1969 Barracuda 340 Formula S matching factory numbers car. Had no room to park all three. What's a fella to do? :crying: -The Stig- 12-27-2006, 01:42 AM Wish I did. Not much you could have done there except beat him outta the hole... freakray 12-31-2006, 11:38 AM half these guys would be so lucky as to own a properly engineered vehicle as an Impreza. You're right, I actually own a '94 Civic, I just put Subaru badges on it and make the turbo noises as I drive down the road to fool other people. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
