MY 1996 Passat (manual transmission) has developed a noise at one rpm only- 2000-2100 rpm. It sounds like a tightly-wound spring opening and closing and is coming from under the engine. The noise occurs when accelerating and when decelerating- it even sounds off when revving the engine in neutral at a stop. Any ideas?
