Can you drop the engine and transmission on a 1998 GMC sierra or do you have to use a hoist?

Can you drop the engine and transmission on a 1998 GMC sierra or do you have to use a hoist?

The tranny by itself can be dropped; however, the engine has to come out from the top.

Of course, the engine and tranny can be removed together from the top.
