Oh the joys of trannyvillekattygirl 12-14-2006, 09:59 AM Ok, this is interesting... I recently had the alternator and battery replaced on my '92 regal. When I got the car back, the transmission started acting up and by the time I got home, the transmission wasn't working at all. I noticed a hose (near front rightish side of engine facing battery) was basically off and shooting fluid everywhere. The problem is, I tightened the hose again and added more transmission fluid, since it had been bled pretty much dry... Now, the car moves again, but it revs up to about 4 rpms for awhile before finally kicking into gear. Once the car is going, the gear shifting seems pretty good. Occasionally, it seems to rev up when going around a bend without my foot on the gas. Could anyone tell me what I should do... The mechanic insists there was no way he could have done anything to it when replacing the alternator and battery and being new to the area, I'm reluctant to try another mechanic now... I am pretty good around basic car parts, but this may be too much for me. Any help would be greatly appreciated. THANKS! oh sorry... the engine is a 3.8 litre 3800 v-6 SFI engine... hope that's all the information needed maxwedge 12-14-2006, 04:17 PM Welcome to AF. So the cooler hose popped off and the trans leaked fluid until it basically wouldn't move, correct? Recheck the level when warm, on level gd., if ok, check for vacuum to the trans modulator, front lower l/s ( drivers side) of the trans. kattygirl 12-15-2006, 04:27 PM Thanks for the welcome and the reply. i will attempt to locate the vacuum and see what I can find. I don't know my way around that well, but I do have a manual, so hopefully that will help :p . Wish me luck! maxwedge 12-15-2006, 07:54 PM Need more help, feel free to come back, of course. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
