idle that stays the same when shifting

OK i just done a timing belt on my car. I got it in time but my idle was surging really bad, so i was looking at the TB and unplugged some thing on the top of it, it only had one wire coming out of it, now it works almost normal. except for when i shift the rpm is the same for like 10 seconds. Anyone know what is wrong?

I think I know what you're talking a/b...

That's called the Idle switch. With that disconnected, you're idle may fix itself. That's because you have a bigger problem. With that disconnected, the circuit is open and the ECU thinks you're still pressing the gas (even just a little), and it won't attempt to adjust the idle. Therefore, it may take a little longer to go back down to idle...

Check these VFAQs to find out how to fix the idle surge:

OK i finally replaced the Isc with a new Isc and the idle still surges and stays the same when i am shifting. What other stuff could cause it? Air leak?

this thread is old skool... but anyway... (you are the original poster and it is pertaining to the original subject, so shoot away)

you didn't list any info on the car... so we can't help but so much

did you check those links I gave you?!? anything else change since then?!?

and yeah, a boost leak can cause an erratic idle/stuttering...

Is it throwing any codes?

It is a 92 talon tsi. It is throwing no codes. When i replaced the isc i also cleaned the TB really good. Is there anything that would be helpful that a logger will help with?
