trans filter retaining sleeve98gpking 12-13-2006, 10:02 AM when intstalling a shift kit from the W-body store is required to have the new trans filter retaining sleeve put on. or can i re-use the old one. the retaining sleeve appears to be missing. all that i have is 2 springs 1 filter 4 silver spacers( 1 bigger then the other 3) thanks BNaylor 12-13-2006, 10:17 AM The screen filter bushing is also a seal. Best thing to do is inspect it. If it looks good and the filter feels snug when you install it then resuse the old one. I recall the bushing/seal comes with the AC Delco screen filter kits but I guess the place you got it from left it out or decided it wasn't needed. 98gpking 12-13-2006, 10:19 AM The screen filter bushing is also a seal. I have a spare AC Delco screen filter kit (TF304) and it has the same bushing/seal in it. If you still have the old one installed in your tranny then I would reuse it if it looks good. I've done it with no problems. troy1 12-13-2006, 02:01 PM If the seal holds the filter up when you install it leave it if it falls back out replace it. Just make sure their are no nicks in the seal vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
