yea, the snow is starting to melt, and its beginning to be that time of year again. i decided to race my cousin, after we got off work. basically just flooring it and letting off to warm up the cars.

sat at light, did tq + brake at 1.5k, and he was just in 1st with brake.
green came, i slipped a tad and pulled about 2 cars ahead by the end of 1st. at the end of second it was 3 cars. but then came the dreaded 3rd gear for me. i hit third and it seemed like my pulling away came to a stop, as he gained all of the cars i put on him right away, and put an additional 2 on me to 80mph. that was wierd. i guess my car is lacking top end really badly lol.

what's up with your 3rd gear? i find it hard to believe you can be in the lead through 1st and 2nd by that many cars and then lose 5 whole cars through one gear.

his tranny is giving up on him, thats why he is looking for a new car.

kind of lol. its not basically punching it. its keeping it in "2" at about 3.5 k, man i can't think of the word, tapping the throttle. mind you the cars hae been on for more than 10 min total. its more for my car, as its retarded if i drive 'econo wise' and then want to be 'speedy'. who knows? but yea.

if i get a chance, i'll do an accell vid to show you what i mean. 0-70 is pretty sweet, but once 70 hits, its like the ecu goes into i want to be lazy mode and climb speed very slow. i think ill do it tomorro, as i have nothing to do after school. i'll do this on a highway with someone, so it might not be as quick, unless i can fabricate a camera holder really quick for just this.

i personally think it has to do with the gearing. 1st goes to about 40, 2nd to about 70, and then in third ive hit about 130 at 6k, with about 800 more rpms to go. talk about a huge gear. i think that is what is killing me. i think that gear could take me to 140 to the rev limiter, but im not going to try that, as it takes too long to hit 100 as it is. i think it took me like 2 miles to get to 130.

i have a vid of my accell. i just need to find a host that wont try and compress it, as its hard to see as it is. this was from the digi camera, and my gauges aren't that nice to look at in the dark, from the camera any way.

are you really looking into selling your car? any ideas about what you might get next?

4) anything not auto with plenty aftermarket, pretty much sums it up.

at about 21 sec you hear the engine change the pull or cam settings or something. just makes it a lot slower for some reason. you can hear it. the car as CAI on it. damn thing is wierd. thats basically why i think i lost. take a look.

just because you may not be satisfied with your car and it happens to be an automatic doesn't mean manuals are better by any means. my car should easily be a 12 second one once I put my torque converter in,, and and most of the fastest drag cars around are autos just because of their efficiency.

manually shifting an auto is very bad for the tranny. in a stock automatic transmission it is such a slight difference power shifting that it's not worth the wear and tear on it. this could easily be why your shifting seems so soft from 2nd to 3rd now or why 3rd gear seems to be so weak.

gforce: if you had the sound on, its not too bad. i have the original, which is 20mb, and you can see in it. i could do it again, but i'd have to do it right outta school or somethin. need a passenger for this one. i'll see what i can do about that. listen for a wierd somethin happen to my car at 21 sec into the video. this is what im assuming is slowing me down form being slower.

manually shifting the auto really isnt a big deal or high stress on it. the point is if i left if in 'OD' or not, it would shift at 6500, instead of 6800. thats a big difference in accelleration. ive tested it out. 3rd gear has always been like that though. i think the car just doesnt have enough power in it. there are plenty turbo sentra owners that manually shift their automatic. just gotta do a transmission flush every year, and you're pretty much set.

there is nothing wrong with auto, but i personally feel that you can't set up a street drag/auto x car in an auto, w/o tiptronic or somethin, since the ecu will change gears for you, even if you put it into '2'. i learned how to drive on a manual, i miss the control i had over the engine in general. and if my transmission is cold, and i floor it, it'll do a slip shift maybe 1:30,000 ratio of when it happens. thts happened to me 3 times total. i don't want it to become number 4 either.

^^^im with him on the whole not wanting an auto thing, my celica's transmission went out and I had to replace it, for a new one it was gonna cost 3k which was more than I bought the car for. I ended up getting a used one for 750 which included installation. That sucked. I also feel too resticted in an auto unless its like a high powered sports car but those at least have paddle shifters.

its about 350 for a g20 sr20 auto tranny with lsd. plus install. meeh, id just buy a different car, like im seeing what i can afford to pay off by May now, before the move.

no i wouln't trust that website. go for something more mainstream like extremedimentions, or nopionline, something of that sort.

besides, there really isnt any real good kits out. nothing like what the bomex kit did for the supra in F&F anyway. you have a couple options reguarding kits for your 01 b15 sentra. (car domain is going to hate me for linking all these damn photos....)

if you want to do wheels, there really isn't much choice. you need 4 lugs, unless you upgrade from maxima's i believe to 5. im guessing you have the gxe, as you want a kit.

if you can find a lighter 16' rim that has a 4 lug and 114.3x4 offset that is lighter than 18lbs and less than 200 a wheel, let me know.

and of course to have the kit look right, you would need the proper lighting

headlights. grab the stock spec-v blackened ones like so.

taillights, you have two options : smoked stockies, stockies or the clear ones.

grab some black tints, and it will be looking pretty clean, not ricey, and get looks everywhere.

and as far as the sentra is going, that miata got sold, so now im stuck waiting on 3 things.

think its going to be the condo, and grab the car in FL as wi cars see almost everything possible. expeccially the paint. once it snows, if someone urines in the snow, and the plower puts that snow into the street, its on the paint. someone's leaking oil or power steering or coolant, its in the snow, then onto the paint and underbody.

where did the snow thing come from, there isnt any here. plus you'll find it very easy to find a car here in florida, plenty of miatas if that is what you had your heart set on. But we could go car hunting to see what fits you the best, i like doing that its fun.

i have to agree as well though, car hunting is fun. its also funny to see how mad they become when you say that car they 'recommend' to you isn't the one you want to drive. its also funny when you test drive a number of cars, and don't like any of them.
