well i would highly recommend NOT using the VAFC. Convert to OBD1 and run something like Crome. You could run OBDO Hondata...which is going to be about the same price.

Other than that, what kind of questions do you have?

by the way, if you buy that kit above, you will be banned from the site permanently...that is a pile of shit that is going to break in no time....

ssj155trunks

how do i convert to obd 1 and where do i find stuff for obd 0 and can i use mega squirt on obd0? thank you for any help.

ssj155trunks
12-12-2006, 12:12 PM
well what do you think i should do i only have like $2500 to work with. where can i find the pieces to put a good one together?

Schister66
12-12-2006, 12:12 PM
dont use Megasquirt....there are so many other good programs available for Hondas. I could see using that if you had some other car like a mid 90s Dodge, but there is a wide selection of free programs for Honda. All you would need to do is convert to OBD1 (which means buying a conversion harness and ECU) and then get your car tuned on Crome. You WILL have to get your car professionally tuned if you want it to last....

I made 275whp safely for 5 months before i decided to upgrade my setup...that was on the stock engine too!

www.honda-tech.com has all the info you need
www.hondamarketplace.com has all of the parts you need

so do you think its possible to get i done with that amount of money and what do you think i essentially need to get started with turboing it. im not to great with all of this because i was just looking at the kits and so im tryin to figure it all out.?

Schister66
12-12-2006, 05:18 PM
yeah you could do it for that amount of money...you need to read up on things first so that you can budget accordingly.

I'll save you some time...search through this thread and you will find all of the answers you need. There are threads on there for everything. One thing that you cant forget to budget for is a clutch, exhaust, and tuning....

i already put a stage 3 clutch in when i had to change the tranny . i put a cable tranny from a 91 acura integra rs? so is that good and its not the best clutch in the world but it grips great?

Schister66
12-13-2006, 02:34 AM
well then you can count that off the list....you should be able to easily boost it for less than $2500. I bought all new parts and did mine w/ a clutch, tune and exhaust for $2600 approx....

ssj155trunks
12-13-2006, 07:27 AM
what should i do about exhaust should i go with 3 " with no cat or should i run a catback with a cat?
and what was your set up on you gsr? and do i need to change drive axles i have 99 gsr axles?

ssj155trunks
12-13-2006, 07:27 AM
sorry for bombarding you but i want to do this right . ? thanx for any help.

Schister66
12-13-2006, 04:27 PM
i'm running stock axles....i have a 99 GSR....therefore i would say you're fine because they've seen a lot of abuse

yes my setup was on a GSR...i'll list it here in a little while, but as for the exhaust, 3" works well....

ssj155trunks
12-15-2006, 07:33 AM
is your gsr a daily driver or did it give you any problems and how much boost are you pushing.?

Schister66
12-15-2006, 11:01 AM
yes my GSR was my daily at the time. I now have a winter/work car and my GSR is strictly for fun. I only ran 9psi and made 275whp.....and never had any problems with it.....I'm running 11psi on my 60-1 and i'm hoping for 330-350whp but since its not my daily, i'm not as concerned with it. I dont want it to blow, but since i'm not forced to drive it every day, i can push it a little further than i would otherwise...

so ive been looking all around for kits or parts to turbo but i dont see to many for b16 a1s just for 99 civics which is the a2 and is obd2 i think so what would i need to do to make that fit my car.?

Hey for fuel and timing management you could chip your pcm and run turbo edit or uberdata. Its very similar to hondata but uses shareware. We got our
done for about $300 including dyno time and tune. Check out Turbo Tune LTD. If you're in NC area. Might be around 500 now.

that is happening because you're a trial user still...you need to get a higher post count and be a member longer. Once you have become a member, just search the classifieds and you'll find everything you need. If you just let me know what you're trying to do, i can help you out!

You need to post in the regular Honda-tech forums first...also dont worry about letting deals pass. You may think they're good, but they're probably nothing special. You're just used to seeing horribly overpriced parts....

i bought a kit that included an 18g greddy turbo with internal waste gate and headers and greddy elec boost controller and an autometer boost gauge and a golden eagle sandwich adapter with stealth oil lines and greddy type s bov. all i need now is a couple more gauges like my air/fuel a tach and intercooler piping and im ready to go. if you run in to any of these let me know thanks for all of the help.

Couple things:

1. It is an exhaust manifold, not a header (t25 flanged turbo manifold if you will)
2. That's not a bad setup at all...what did you pay?? Also, what are your goals for power??
3. IC piping is easy to find, just search Honda-tech for a while...

---i have an intercooler for sale if you are interested----

thats what i meant oh yeah and it came with dsm 450 cc injectors and a walbro 255 fuel pump. i also bought an p28 ecu chipped with hondata still waiting for it to get here. and i got a new msd distributor cap to an external blaster coil and and iridium 9.5 mm spark plug wires and plugs . and yes i am interested in the ic just send me a pic if you can and let me know how much cause im kinda stapped now and all i really need is the piping cause i got an ic with the kit. and i paid 1450 shipped for it and it was here in two days. and everything was good. just let me know about that. thanks

and with all of this tuned i hope to get 275 to 300 horse at 9 to 10 psi what do you think?

and with all of this tuned i hope to get 275 to 300 horse at 9 to 10 psi what do you think?

you're not going to reach that power goal on an 18g w/ a Greddy cast manifold. You'll have fun and probably hit into the 220-240whp range, but i doubt you'll get any higher than that on the stock map sensor. You will have quick spool up, fast recovery and good low end torque.

HORSEPOWER ISNT EVERYTHING

Also, $1450 isn't a bad price, but i could have stretched it further....if you continue to build setups, you'll start kicking yourself for things you bought in the past. I do it all the time. It is a great setup to start with and you'll learn and grow from here....good buy!

02-02-2007, 07:40 AM
right thats cool cause i just figured out how to wire in the new o2 sensor and to get a distibutor four my obd 0-1 conversion. and ill just search the forums for the downpipe . thanks guys. if you see any good deals let me know. thanks again.

Schister66
02-02-2007, 01:40 PM
talk to Project DC2....you may have to send him your manifold to get the DP made, but you know that you cant just snag any downpipe off HT and expect it to work right? You have to have the specific one made for your turbo and your manifold....PM him and see what he can do for you....
