This isn't so much about the actual swap, but I'm trying to deciede if I can do it myself or need someone to do it. Here is my situation, I have a '92 5spd NA, I have a large heated shop space with a lift, any tools needed I either have or my friends have, I have a car to drive if it takes me a few months, and I have about $6000 to do it with. It would be my first major project, I would have help of a very good mechanics for anything I run into I couldn't do, I would have lots of time to do it.
Are the manuals, write ups, and specs easy to get a hold of? Will I be able to find a good manual front clip, or will I be able to buy it part by part?

Any input on whether you think this would be a doable project for me and anything on my other questions would be appreciated.

Well, most of the people on this forum will tell you that it isn't worth the hassle and cost and to just sell your N/A and buy a TT. Do you have any particular attachment to this car? Was it given to you by a long lost relative? If not, save your time and money by selling the N/A and buying a decent TT. If you add together the cost of your N/A + the cost of the TT swap, it will equal more than the cost of selling the N/A and just buying a TT.

This cost difference will become much more apparent if something goes wrong like it did to Jason.

if you decide to do it yourself...buy the clip from Z1motorsports. i am pretty sure they will start it run it and everything to make sure everything checks out before handing it over. that way they will deal with faulty clips from the japanese guy on the other end instead of you trying to get your money back from some unknown company.

i personally would just have the swap done by a trusted specialist. thats what i would do if i could do it all over again. either that or i would have jut sold my N/A and bought a TT. this is the most reasonable idea. trust me...i spent well over double what i had intially planned to spend because of a transmission deal gone wrong, faulty parts, and a locked up motor.

I would agree with K3 here, unless you have a rare model like a convertible or a slick top. It wouldn't make sense to do a swap.
