Hey, guys.
I've got a '99 Eclipse 420A. It takes me a few times to actually get the car started each day. On first try, the indicator lights will go crazy and there will be a fast-paced ticking coming from the dash. I'll hear the engine murmur a little bit. After a couple tries, I can usually get it to turn over. But today, I've had no luck.
It's been rather cold lately and I did leave the hatch open for a long time about a month and a half ago. So that probably didn't help. I would go get my battery tested, once I get my car started.
Any other suggestions?
Also, where is the O2 sensors located?
Thanks for your help.

It sounds like a battery, or maybe your starter from the way you describe the clicking.
O2 sensors, one is after the catalytic converter, and one is before. I'm not a 420a man so I don't know if the first 02 sensor is on the bottom of the header or the beggining of the mid pipe.

A clicking sound from things like relays and the sorts can be either a shot battery or poorly grounded. Clean your terminal connections from all corrosion and such forth.

:1: for cleaning and tightening battery/alternator connections. Sounds like either a bad connection or a shitty starter.

Does anyone know where the starter is located in a 2000 Mitsubishi Eclipse?

umm... Nope
Maybe you should post this in the 2000+ sections.
