I took my car in to a local shop and had them replace the front and rear oil seals to the oil pan. My overdrive will not work now. Is there a cable or something that might have been disconnected when messing with the oil pan? If not, what might the problem be? The car is running just fine. My gear shifter is on the floor and its an automatic. Is there something inside of that? My button that I push to take it out of park is kinda of hard to push in and when moving it from park to drive it seems a little tight. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks:sadwavey:

On the SHO, overdrive is default when in "drive," but to disable OD, you press a button on the gear shift knob. However, if the gear selector were actually going into "2" instead of "drive," OD certainly wouldn't work. Are you sure your transmission is shifting into third gear?

The OD solenoid is located low on the tranmission on the driver's side rear. There is an e-clip on the solenoid that has a tendency to break and, if that happens, the solenoid will fail to engage OD. That happened on my 1993 ATX. I didn't realize my OD didn't work until I scanned the transmission for codes and it told me the OD ratio was incorrect. The Check Engine Light never came on. I replaced the $0.17 e-clip and all was happy. Took me a couple of hours to replace and photograph along the way.

:iceslolan Thanks for the information. The problem was the overdrive cable in the gear selector shifter, it had been cut in two. Had a difficult time saudering those back together. In that wire there are two smaller wires that can not touch. Also the length of wire that was left that came from the button side was short. Did not have much to work with. Overdrive works just fine now.
Thanks.

Ahh, yes, I forgot about that common issue with the ATX. Good job on the fix, and thank you for the follow-up post!
